Young Investigators Award

Bart Pennings (A-1002) won a Young Investigator Award at the Congress of the European College of Sport Science (ECSS) in Antalya, Turkey. Bart presented part of his PhD work, in which sophisticated stable isotope tracer methodology is being used to assess dietary protein digestion and absorption kinetics and subsequent muscle protein synthesis rates in elderly humans.
The latter is relevant to support the main research aim of project A-1002: Defining effective dietary strategies to promote muscle mass in the elderly.
