Awards and prizes

Prestigious prizes
Since the establishment of our partnership, in 1997, several of our scientists have received prestigious national and international prizes, including the Spinoza Prize, the Young Investigator Award and a variety of poster prizes at congresses. These awards underline both their individual research skills and the overall scientific quality of our partnership.

Spinoza Prize
Among the prize winners is our former Programme Director and Executive Coordinator International Affairs Prof. Willem de Vos. He received the Spinoza Prize (2008) - known as the Dutch ‘Nobel Prize’ - for his ground-breaking research into the contribution of microorganisms to human foods and health.

Young Investigator Award
Another prize winner is PhD fellow Bart Pennings; he received a Young Investigator Award at the last Congress of the European College of Sport Science in Antalya, Turkey (2010). Pennings used sophisticated stable isotope tracer methodology to assess dietary protein digestion, absorption kinetics and muscle protein synthesis rates in elderly humans.

TI Food and Nutrition Prizes
As an extra incentive for our scientists, we organise our own award event, the annual Patent & Publication Prizes and Impact Award. Overview of the winning scientists
