Public private partnership
TI Food and Nutrition is a public private partnership for interdisciplinary research in food and nutrition. Our
partners
are key players in the international food industry: thirteen leading food and ingredient manufacturers, five well-established research institutes, and universities including university medical centres.
Organisational structure
The TI Food and Nutrition organisation is split into two parts,

Board
T
he
b
oard
has o
verall responsibility and decision-making power for the Institute's performance. It is composed of members from all the participants in TI Food and Nutrition’s Theme-structured research. The Board is composed of a Governing Board (responsible for decision-making on all important matters to do with the interests of TI Food and Nutrition, such as mission, business strategy, research programme, budgets, safeguarding scientific excellence, approval of new partners) and an Executive Board (mandated by the Governing Board for executive affairs and preparation of policymaking documents). The Managing Director is the Secretary of the Board.
Theme Council
The Theme Council is responsible for, and advises the Board on, Theme strategy and the Themes’ financial planning and management. The Theme Council makes sure projects are defined and regularly reviews the theme projects portfolio. All Theme participants are represented in the Theme Council.
Experts
Each project has one or more experts who follow and reflect upon the findings, process and progress. Each Theme Council member may propose experts from his own organisation to contribute to one or more projects.
Theme Director
The Theme Director is Secretary of the Theme Council and a member of the TI Food and Nutrition Management Team. The Theme Director is responsible for the final formulation of the Theme Strategy, Projects formulation (delegated to Principal Investigators) and execution (delegated to Project Leaders). He controls the financial planning, human capital, delivery and reporting and the external communication and representation for the Themes and Projects under his supervision. The Theme Director is also involved in securing funding for TI Food and Nutrition.
Support Staff
The Support Staff includes Human Resources, Finance, PR & Communication, Intellectual Property, Information Technology, and Policy and General Affairs.
