TiFN and NIZO Food Research announce that Alwine Kardinaal has been appointed as Theme Director Healthy Nutrition at TiFN starting August 1, 2021. She succeeds Rob Beudeker, who has reached retirement age after a long career at DSM.

Dr Alwine Kardinaal is a renowned researcher with more than 50 scientific publications to her name. Her career as a nutritional researcher and research manager at the research institutes TNO and NIZO food research provides an overview of the domain, but also a lot of practical experience in setting up and conducting industrially relevant food research. Dr Kardinaal is and will continue to work as a Principal Scientist at NIZO Food Research and she will fill the TiFN position on a secondment basis.

About her choice for TiFN she says: “The contribution of food to a healthy and pleasant life is obvious, but to understand exactly how it works and what concrete improvements we can achieve, collaboration between scientists and companies is of great importance. In TiFN I can connect my experiences with the enormous knowledge network and the result-oriented working method that have proven so effective in recent years.”
