What is health? How do we define sustainability? Integrated measurement and modelling combines existing methodologies and datasets to create a holistic methodology for measuring performance, and to set improvement targets for sustainable production and healthier and more-sustainable diets.
Restoring biodiversity in the Netherlands is the aim of a broad coalition including knowledge institutes, agricultural representatives, companies and NGOs. As a partner, TiFN will share its knowledge on regenerative business models, public-private partnerships and transdisciplinary solutions.

An integrated systems approach towards sustainable food production is the aim of Regenerative farming. The project will deliver outlines for a revised Netherlands’ agricultural system, for best practices and robust, quantified scenarios for a national-level transition.
Does reduced exposure to sweetness induce a lower preference for sweet items, reduce sugar and energy intake and, perhaps, also body weight? This question will be answered in a TiFN project with nine industry and research partners.
Agricultural production worldwide faces huge challenges to achieve the UN Sustainability Development Goals and international agreements with respect to environment (depletion of scarce resources, global warming, acidification, eutrophication, nutrient losses, and biodiversity loss), labour (availability of skilled workers), and society (consumer/societal acceptance of production methods and novel technology). Further optimization of current farming practices with precision agriculture and precision livestock farming technologies will not be sufficient to meet these challenges.
